Michigan’s upper peninsula is quickly becoming the go-to place for adventurers. Perhaps it always has been but I’m probably just noticing it more because I live here now. Before Bob and I purchased the resort from his parents in 2015 we made an annual camping trip to the U.P. with friends. Who knew we had one of the most adorable honeymoon cabins right here?
Because let’s be honest, you don’t have to be honeymooners to stay in our cute honeymoon cabins but it’s also not a bad idea if you’re looking for a sweet little romantic but fun getaway! We actually have many couples that come back for anniversaries, some year after year, and some after 25. An excellent time to reminisce and make new memories together.
Outdoor Adventures!
Twin Cedars Resort is located centrally to some of the best attractions in the Upper Peninsula. I can never get enough of Tahquamenon Falls or Whitefish Point. Both of which you could see together in one day.
Making a trip to Mackinac Island should certainly be on your list. Simply stroll the streets, check out some great restaurants, take a carriage tour or adventure the trails on your own. The island has a lot to offer, and in the summer, has extended ferry hours so you can take all the time you need.
Whether you’re like Bob and make a detailed trip itinerary or you just like to wing it, I’m always recommending some of the ‘so-called’ tourist traps. A couple of my favorites, because I love wildlife! The Deer Ranch located just west off U.S. 2 in St. Ignace and Oswald’s Bear Ranch near Newberry. Both are quick stops but you could linger and explore for as long as you’d like.
I would also suggest adding the hour and a half, beautiful drive, over to Kitch-iti-kipi, otherwise known as Big Springs in Manistique. And seeing the Cut River Bridge on your way is a must do and totally on my list for fall!
Outdoor adventures are honestly endless from hiking the North Country Trail, that’s practically in our backyard, to simply relaxing on the dock. Toss in a line or 2 and enjoy the scenery.
Our Honeymoon Cabins
It may be our smallest cabin on the resort but for some reason it’s still my favorite. So cozy and just perfect for the 2 of you. High vaulted ceilings, wooden throughout and everything you could possibly need in up-north, honeymoon cabins.
View all the details, including the interior of Cabin 4, the most cutest of honeymoon cabins!
